2026 ICLAS Travel Award – Now Open for Applications!
It is with great pleasure that, in the year ICLAS celebrates its 70th anniversary, we launch the 31st edition of the ICLAS/AALAS Travel Award.
This award has already supported over 60 professionals from Latin America in attending the AALAS National Meeting, the largest global conference in laboratory animal science.
We are deeply grateful to Charles River Laboratories’ Charter Program and PMI Nutrition International, LLC – LabDiet®, which have supported this program from the beginning; to Avidity Science®, which joined as a sponsor a few years ago; and to our newest supporter, Gruenberg Dry Heat Sterilizers.
In this special year of ICLAS’s 70th anniversary, we are pleased to offer four Travel Awards.
This award aims to provide professionals from Latin America with the opportunity to attend the AALAS National Meeting and bring back knowledge, experience, and international connections to share with their communities and regions.

This year marks the 31st anniversary of the ICLAS Travel Award. Since its creation in 1995, the program has enabled more than 60 professionals from nearly every country in Latin America to attend the AALAS National Meeting in the United States.
The first recipient was Dr. Octavio Villanueva Sánchez in 1995. Since then, the award has had a significant impact on the careers of many professionals, several of whom have gone on to become presidents of their national scientific societies and leaders in the field of laboratory animal science.
The opportunity to attend AALAS has been a milestone in their professional journeys. Through this program, ICLAS continues to fulfill its mission of supporting the development of laboratory animal science worldwide.
