There are no intensive programmes at universities for Masters courses on LAS, nor programmes at veterinary faculties for Veterinarians to obtain a post-degree on laboratory animals medicine in Argentina and many other Latin American countries. Therefore, a grant obtained through the ICLAS Americas Regional Committee has enabled the Instituto de Biologie Celular y Neirosciencia to hold a Postgraduate course on “Actualización en conceptos de investigación con animales de laboratorio”, Edition IV, held in October 2017.
“Courses like this one represent the few opportunities for education on LAS, both for laboratory animal users as well as for Veterinarians. Indeed, although the audience was limited to 40 persons, we received more registrations and we had to look for a bigger auditorium to finally receive 52 attendees, with 29 coming from Salta, “said Course Director, Silvina L Diaz. “Financial support by ICLAS was fundamental to achieve the proposed objectives, given that the organization of this course meant a big economical effort.”
Editions I and II had been organised in Buenos Aires, but other cities were chosen for Edition III (in Cordoba) and Edition IV (in Salta) to offer more people the opportunity to take part.
